Oh What Fun!

Today I have another LO from the November Hip kit.
I really like how the red and green washi tape  draw your eye down the side of the page.
Lots of white space, this is a bit on the simpler side but I still LOVE how it turned out.

Doily cut out from Vellum sheet in kit.

Hello Santa

We went to check out the new Target store last week and happened to run into this fella at the mall.
There wasn't a huge line up and Little Man was keen on giving him his list.
This might be the first picture in EIGHT years where my child is smiling and not trying to jump off the nice man's lap. SCORE!! Definitely worth the $11 we shelled out for 2 4x6's ;)

Sometimes these chipboard letters don't stay put oncve they go into my albums, so I like to 'make sure' by adding some stitching - especially when I overlap them as I have here.

I am off to deck the halls with my munchkin.

Me & Boo

This year my little guy asked me to dress up as a kitty cat to take him out trick or treating.
By the time I made it to the store, all I could find was bunny ears, so I improvised a bit.
He was dressed as a Plants vs. Zombies cone -head zombie (we snapped a selfie before heading out).

This is another of the un-fancy-dancy layouts that I have been doing. The most time consuming part was fussy-cutting the diamond paper. I love how it turned out though.

Grade 3 Picture

Hello & Happy Wednesday!
Today I have a new LO to share using the October Hip Kit.

The transparent embellishments and cork alphas are among two of my favourite elements in the kit.
As you can see, I have gone back to my stitching roots on this one.

To make the leaves, I lightly traced around one of my hand cuts & pierced through an extra leaf I had on hand to get the leaf's veins just right. I then pierced the perimeter and erased the pencil marks.

Thanks for stopping by today.
As always, Happy Surfing :)

Working Girl

Since I started this LO, we got notice that our site was closing. BOO! :(
I think that may have been partially my reasoning for dragging my feet and printing my pics to finish this LO up. Who knows? While I am still a bit glum about losing a job that I thoroughly enjoy and am just starting to get better at, I have decided to be optimistic and believe that everything does happen for a reason and be thankful for the oppertunity and the wonderful friends I have made on this little journey.

I have to say that I love how this little project came together, I used the sunburst stencil and traced on the backside of my white cardstock, then cut and inked the edges. This felt too harsh (my inking skills still need soome work), so I layered a vellum sheet (again, traced & then cut) and went back to my scrappy roots and stitched it down. This really softened my edges and gave me a look I was happier with. It was halfway through this LO that I realized that I would never finish my projects if I put this much time into them all and decided to streamline my pages a bit. That being said, I am VERY happy that I I took the time to fiddle a bit more with this one as I love how pretty it turned out.

The letters in the kit were gettiing lost in all the prettiness here, so I added some of the woodgrain washi tape to them, trimmed and then lightly sanded the edge for a customized alpha. These stand out against the pattern papers MUCH better.

Grade 3!

I decided this month that as much as I LOVE adding layers and layers onto my pages, I just don't have the time anymore to spend 2-3 hrs per LO. I tried a bit of a less is more approach with this next page and it came together in about 30 mins. In all honesty, I did sketch it out first, that saved me the proces of moving stuff all over my page for an additional hour ;)

This LO will go down as an all time fave for me.
I love adding bright colours to my LOs and the graphic patterns add a bit of fun playfullness and really catch the eye. I also broke out my trusted ol' DYMO label maker. I just love that old dinosaur of a machine.

#Blueeyes

Hello! Today I have another LO using the September Hip Kit to share with you.

I took a great deal of my inspiration for this next LO from these 4 little chipboard frames in the lower right hand corner (they are nested inside each other). I popped them all out and positioned them around my paper until I figured out how I wanted to place them.
I then backed them all with neutral-ish paper and then started making my little display squares.
I saved on for my photo and then took the task of figuring out what to back them with.

adhesive chipboard

I started out with plain cardstock and it didn't look right. I then chose this black & white diagonal stripe and was pretty happy with it. It's very eye catching but needed to be toned down a bit.
I did this with white cardstock, white doilies, grey paper and this buttery yellow barnboad pattern.
I like that even though there is a lot going on here, my picture still pops.

Sept Hip kit (cards)

These are a few cards that I did with my Sept Hip kit.
I loved using the American crafts Amy Tangerine die cuts and laying them along side of the
chipboard alphas, hearts & stickers. I think they land a lot of drama to the projects.

For this card, I used the die cut as my base and layered it with some Stampin Up die cuts that I made with my CuttleBug & paper from the kit.

Big Boy Hair

I LOVE scrapbooking. Like, LOVE it.

But I was having a hard time finding the time to fit it in with my other responsibilities. With this newest kit, I made use of all the die cuts and left it simple.
I was really happy with this LO and it only took me about 30 minutes.
I like to add little bits to my LOs. I find adding embellishments in similar tones, gives my LOs interest without making them look too busy or fussy.
