Scrapbooking & Good Friends

If you had told me 8 years ago that not only would I make a scrapbook, but that I would LOVE it, devour it, obsess about it and make amazing friends from it -  I'd have called you insane.
Yet here I sit, with 6+ years under my belt, blogging about it and coming down from my scrapping weekend 'high'.

I went away with these 3 ladies below (Pictured: Heather M, Me, Tracey T & Amanda M) last weekend.
I got little sleep but it was well worth it for the great laughs, shopping & scrapping we did together.
I seriously had so much fun (Which I think I said about every 10 minutes once we got there).
I don't see these girls as often as I'd like but when I do, it's as if I just saw them yesterday.

If you have the oppertunity to go to a Crop and Create, the organizers and teachers are friendly, warm & genuine. There are lots of prizes, make and takes & classes. No matter how much you think you know about paper crafting, you will have come away from the experience having learned something (and BTW-I learned a TONNE-Thanks Kelly & Vicki B.!)
The organizers promised to come back next year and we are holding them to their word!

Just Beachy

Wow! Can you ever tell I was half asleep in my last post!
That's what I get for trying to type coherently at 10pm. ;)
Sorry about that! This AM I am alert and wide awake, planning for my weekend scrappy vacay with some of my favorite peeps! I am sure to have alot of laughs, food and fun this weekend and I seriously can't wait!
If you are in the Moncton area, this weekend, you should definately stop by Crop & Create!
There will be some great shopping as well!

In the meantime, I wanted to share a couple of just-for-fun LOs that I did.
This one is using some of teh new My Mind's Eye & Lily Bee papers that are now shipping.
I think that cloth looking paper is one of my new favorite trends and this denim paper (MME) is worth every penny if you can get your hands on it.

Supplies: Cardstock-American Crafts, Paper - My Mind's Eye, Lily Bee, Banner Stickers - Lily Bee
Alphas-American Craft Thickers (New Amy Tan line), Twine & Buttons - unknown, Die Cut Tags - MME, K& Co.

**Hidden Journalling

This LO is using scraps that I have hanging around in a fun chevron pattern and is of Little Man on his 4th birthday. It really is so hard to believe how fast the time seems to be going.
The 'circle' border is actually an old MME die cut frame that I hadn't used, so I trimmed it and used it to border the top and bottom of my LO.
As you can see, I bucked up and actually wrote directly ON my LO.
Thankfully it doesn't look too bad.
Supplies: Cardstock- American Crafts, Paper- MME, Imaginisce, October Afternoon, Die Cuts - MME (circles), K&Co (Monster), Creative Cafe (Tags), Jenni Bowlin (Calendar), Thickers - American Crafts,
Twine, Buttons - unknown, DMC Floss, Tiny Attacher

Amy Tangerine

Hello Everyone!
I have a new Amy Tangerine LO to share today!
At first, I was a bit intimidated by the bright colors in this new line from American CRafts.
(especially the lime-y green paired with the hot pink).
I was afraid this would never work for a 'boy' LO.
As it stands, right now, I am totally loving the bright & happy feel from these colours.

All supplies American Crafts.
Haprper's Hue Paper (35687) - Amy Tangerine Sketchbook, Crimson Charm Paper (35674) - Amy Tangerine Sketchbook, Grass (71053) - Cardstock, Bits Printed Chipboard Shapes (77290) - Amy Tangerine Sketchbook, 6x6 Paper Pad (35696) - Amy Tangerine Sketchbook, Chapter Daybook (76334) - Amy Tangerine Sketchbook, Remarks Dimensional Stickers (42243) - Amy Tangerine Sketchbook, Elements Fabric Brads (85578) - Amy Tangerine Sketchbook

Since I am literally falling asleep while sitting up, I am going to leave you with this.
I am hoping this post makes a bit of sense.
I begin dreaming as soon as my eyes shut.
Thanks for popping by!

Colors of the season

Hi Everybody!
I have a couple of cards from the March Hip kit that appeared on their blog this week.
I also wanted to share a couple of snapshots from last weekend as well.

My first cake decoarated since my Wilton class a few months ago. Even though I know I need lots more practice, I was the teensiest bit proud of my daffodils when I showed it to my family.
The eggs were done by the boys (my adorable son AND nephew ;) ) after dinner was finished.
And these beautiful flowers given to us from my In-Laws.
Thanks Mom & Dad!

Thanks for stopping by!
Can you believe how quickly this month is going?

Favorite Quotes

Yesterday was my turn to post on the AC blog and this week we are posting about favorite quotes.

Happiness is a journey and not a destination is a quote that I saw shortly after I became a Mom and really got me thinking about my day to day life differently. I really try my best to carry this quote with me through my days.

This pic is one of my faves from last year even though you really only get a sillohette of Little Man. I just loved the angle, how tall he looks and the sun just peeking out past him. I instantly knew I would pair this photo and this quote. I think the vellum sky paper in the background really extends the feeling of that bright, sunny day.

Supplies - White (71081) - Cardstock, Silver Lining Vellum Paper (35635) - Dear Lizzy Neapolitan,
Fresh Blooms Paper (35630) - Dear Lizzy Neapolitan, Heart Song Paper (35631) - Dear Lizzy Neapolitan,

Hazy Horizon Paper (35639) - Dear Lizzy Neapolitan, Accents & Phrases Stickers (42232) - Remarks, White (71081) - Cardstock, Parakeet (42234) - Remarks, Maple Pineapple (53221) - Thickers, Daiquiri Light Green (42745) - Thickers, Pinwheel Embellishments (78071) - Dear Lizzy Neapolitan, Wooden Buttons (85575) - Elements

And this is a little card using the Dear Lizzy & Gardenia lines.

Supplies: White (71081) - Cardstock, Banana (71502) - Cardstock, Fresh Blooms Paper (35630) - Dear Lizzy Neapolitan, Breezy Garden Paper (35613) - Gardenia, Seedling Conservatory Paper (35616) - Gardenia, Thyme Dimensional Stickers (42231) - Gardenia

Thanks a bunch for stopping by!

Lizzy strikes again!

Happy Tuesday!
Yes, is the second post from me today but I couldn't help sharing this wreath that I made during the Easter Holidays. If you are looking for the post with the Hip 2-b Square contest winner, click HERE.

I really wanted something for my front door that said 'Spring' and turned to my favorite line of the moment, Dear Lizzy Neapolitan. I am quite concerned that I may end up hoarding every last piece since I can't bear to throw even the smallest scrap away.

The wreath was a fairly easy project, once I decided what I was going to do with it.
I wrapped the straw base in a gauzy type ribbon that I picked up on the cheap at the local $1 Store. I then made rolled flowers and dressed them up with handcut leaves, paper doilies and accordian style medallions. The hardest part was adhering them to the wreath using straight pins (your fingers will eventually be on the raw side from pushing them through). I made some pretty little paper ringlets and a bow and it was done.

All supplies American Crafts unless otherwise noted.
Heart Song Paper (35631) -  Dear Lizzy Neapolitan, 6x6 Paper Pad (35658) -Neapolitan, Yellow Basics Ribbon Spool (58232) - Specialty, White Tulle Basics Ribbon Spool (58594) - Specialty
Other supplies: Wreath, Paper Doily, straight pins
Close up of the flowers.

I really love the soft colors and how sunny this makes my entrance look.
Thanks for stopping by!

Winner Winner...

Sorry about the late post of the winner.
I got into the Spring cleaning groove yesterday and then my back seized up.
UGH! But I got alot finished before I spent the night in bed. :)

You have until 11pm EST tonight
to leave a comment for a
chance to win a rockin' Hip Kit!

**********************

I have a quick project I'd like to share today before I rush off to watch the Big Bang Theory Marathon and hang with my Little Fam.

When I was playing with the March Hip Kit, I fell in love with the cute little chick sticker (in the blue, looking to the left) but the sticker was way too small for my project, so I decided to paper piece one in a larger size.

I started out by making my tag. I then punched out 2 partial circles with different sized circle punches.
I then free-hand cut them to resemble a large apostrophe for the wing and a crescent moon for the body.
I used a foam dot to adhere my wing & used one of the heart stickers from the same sheet in a shade of orange for the beak.

Super quick & easy paper-piecing!
Thanks for stopping by!
I hope you have a wonderful holiday.

Dear Lizzy Topiary

I have a confession: I can't stop using my Dear Lizzy Neapolitan stash. I don't know if I have Spring fever but I do know that I want these colors all over my house and this collection fits the bill.
My topiary is pretty basic-I cut lots and lots of thin strips (about 1/2" x3-4" each), looped them so the green colour outside was showing and got busy pinning.
When I got to the top, I needed something that would hang down on it's own without alot of work for me, so I used a beautiful AC crocheted trim that I have been saving for 'just the right time'. I used pins there as well.

Supply List: Heart Song Paper (35631) - Dear Lizzy Neapolitan, 6x6 Paper Pad (Heart Song sheet) (35658) - Dear Lizzy Neapolitan, Pinwheels (78071) - Dear Lizzy Neapolitan, Printed Chipboard shapes (78070) - Dear Lizzy Neapolitan, Happy Chance Pennants (35648) - Dear Lizzy Neapolitan Flutterbys, Premium Ribbon (58805) - Dear Lizzy Neapolitan, Basics Ribbon Spools (58217) - Specialty
Additional supplies: Clay Pot, Dowel, Styrofoam cone, Dressmaker's pins, Mini dowels, Raffia

I have another fun little accent that I made to share with you later this week.
Thanks for stopping by & Happy Surfing!
