Fair

If you can't tell, I absolutely adored these Heidi Swapp alphas - I think I used them on every project I did with the August Hip kit. They are non-adhesive, so I set them with a tiny bit of glue and then machine stitched over them to keep them in place.

A bit about the LO:
Little Man and I went to the fair this summer and we each got bracelets for unlimited rides. I promised him I would go on any ride he wanted as many times as he wanted since we had to cut it a bit short last year. I got some great pics from this vantage point-he was super smiley since we were going on all the 'big rides'. I love this pic especially.

Side note: The ride ended up being terrifying (I went on it as a child -MANY times and loved it - wasn't scared at all back then but there is something about hurtling 50kms an hour with your only child on a machine that is assembled within a 24 hr period that is pee-in-your-pants S C A R Y). Neither of us was keen on going on a second ride.

At least I lived to tell the tale. ;)

3 days old

TGIF!
Today I have another LO to share from the Hip Kit Club (August kit).
As you can see, the Heidi Swapp alphas from this kit make an appearance on almost every project that I did this month and this LO is no exception. Since the alphas are not adhesive, I applied a very tiny bit of adhesive tape to the centers om my letters and then ran my sewing machine over them a few times to make sure they stay put. I love subtle little details like these.

This LO is another re-do for Little Man's first year book. I have it almost all converted over from 12x12 LOs to 8.5x11.

Playing Catch up!

I have a few cards to share today from the August Hip Kit.
As you can see, I am starting to get comfortable with stamping/inking/embossing-
Wait--WHAT??!!
Which is not something I am normally comfortable with-my stamping is less than stellar most times-
and I have ruined more than 1 project in the past with my mis-placed/mis-inked/blurred stamping.
I discovered that I am not as nervous with it though, if my stamping is my starting point (meaning, stamp first-adhere/embellish later). This takes alot of the stress off and I am not as afraid ro ruin a project. If I make a mistake stamping, schances are that I am only going to be out 1 little piece of cardstock and not ruining a WHOLE project.

Poor, neglected little blog :)

TGIF!
As I am slowly getting used to my new work/life schedule, I am getting back to the things that I am missing. I started parent volunteering at Little Man's school yesterday and today I am cleaning my scrap room and getting caught up on some scrappy things.
Today I have a LO that I did about my little guy's first day of school. Even though I couldn't be there this year, I got a photo of him that morning and my hubby snapped an i-phone pic before being shooo-ed away from the classroom. I journalled a few tidbits about how excited he is to do " ' times-ing' & dividing" this year.
I loved cutting and layering the photo mats from the mini themed School Kit for my layout. The cursive written papers add a nice touch to the page - I layered these papers on top of the lined looseleaf paper for a classic school page that I am sure to love for years to come.

I also added some chipboard shapes from Shapes to Go! and buttons for some extra dimension & 'pop'.
