Made in Paper

A few months ago, I was asked to be a guest blogger on Shimelle.com. The project that I was given was anything I wanted it to be BUT I had to showcase it 5 ways.
I ended up showcasing my favourite, pretty & inexpensive embellishment: Paper Doilies.

To say that I was totally thrilled when the editor of an up & coming magazine asked to use one of my projects in their new publication would be an understatement!

Fast forward to this afternoon & guess what arrived in my mailbox!?!!

The Spring 2013 issue of Made in Paper!!

You can see the rest of my doily projects HERE.

It's still in some bookstores in the US (Booksamillion, JoAnns, Barnes and Noble) but best way to get it now is via Apple Newsstand: www.papercraftinspirationsmagazine.co.uk/digital (under 'special editions').

If you have the oppertunity, check it out!
It is beautifully photographed and has tonnes of wonderful paper project ideas.

Thanks for stopping by!

Ruby Rock-it Blog Hop & Giveaway!

Happy Friday, Hoppers!
Let's get this party started!

You should be arriving here from the Ruby Rock-it blog.
I was very inspired by the blocking in all of these PL layouts that I am seeing lately so I blocked my project similarly.

To get this wonderful colour on my kraft chipboard alphas, I first sprayed them with Smooch Spritz and then blended the spritz more evenly with a foam sponge. When dry, I applied some Smooch Glitz on top of the color for a bit of shine and sparkle :) This layout uses products mostly from the Carnival Queen line.

I have been so excited by this paper company that I couldn't stop just yet and went on to complete another LO. As you can see, I used lots of bits from all sorts of lines:
Carnival King, Cook (mini line) & Kinda Krafty.

I used the chevron design (the red & white paper) to poe holes through my paper and then stitched them to form a sewn arrow like pattern. BTW, did you notice the tree leaves are made from different sized Fiskars cloud punches? I punched them out and then inked them a bit around the edges for definition. I cut the trunk out by hand. I really like how this embellishment turned out.

If you get lost along the way, here is the blog order:

Nanny's Boys

I got some super sweet pics of my little guy and nephew with my mother in law on Mother's day month. I knew these pictures would go wonderfully with this vintage looking paper in the April/May Hip 2-b Square kit.
I countered all those blue hues with some pops of coral and wood tones on my layout and paired them with my favourite neutral: grey. I am really happy with how this turned out.

Squeal! Check it out!

Yipppeee!
If you know anything about me, you know I LOVE colour on my scrappy pages. I had been drooling over the Carnival King line ever since I spotted it on FB. Imagine my excitement when I was asked to be a part of this fabulous Ruby Rock-it DT and was told I could create anything I wanted with my new treasures!

I looked through the scrappy package probably no less than 3 times before I even opened anything.
I was just having fun putting different paper patterns and colours together- paper really is my first love.

When I did open the embellishment packages, I was blown away! The garlands have real stitching on them, there were a kazillion die cuts & the pockets were double sided and came with FAB stickers!!
I was torn. As you can see from the LO below - there is not as much 'paper' as you normally see from me. ;)  I hope you get to see this collection in person. It is CRAZY fab.

I should also mention that Carnival King has a more feminine version as well with softer colours but just as much whimsy and all the wonderful 'extras' that come with Carnival King.

Thanks a bunch for popping by!
