Love Day

Happy Valentine's Day!
I have been scrapping but am in the midst of some new projects that aren't quite ready yet, so I thought I would re-visit some love inspired favourites.

This LO has an openeing and stores my Little Guy's Valentines
from his classmates. I think I will do this same idea for this year's treasures.

This is a 5x7 canvas I did for Glue Dots 2 years ago.
I inked the sides of the project & made paper roses from various patterned papers.
I accentuated the project with some pearl bling (Kaiser Craft), burlap & Thickers.

This was a just for fun project using up lots of left over Thickers and pics I had printed and never used. I punched out hearts from the same piece of cardstock and adhered them for an embossed look. This LO is a favourite of mine.

This LO uses misting (Mr. Huey's & Studio Calico mask) & Basic Grey papers that were fussy cut.
The LO is of Hubby & I on our Honeymooon, 12 years ago.

And this is a LO using LOTS of Basic Grey goodness is of Mr. Man 4 years ago.
I dressed him as a love bug on V-Day and took his pic. I am pretty sure he will be mad about these images someday. :)

I have a few more 'love' inspired projects that were posted over at Shimelle Laine's blog a few weeks ago. You can check them out HERE.

EDITED Feb 5th, 2013:
Just some answers to a few questions: You can normally find these types of doilies at your local $1 Store & Wal-mart (this is where I purchased the bulk of mine-I also have found some beautiful shades of paper doilies at Michael's in the discount section). I have also picked up doilies that were made by Little Yellow Bicycle several seasons ago from my LSS. I have located some online at Etsy stores, you can check them out here.

The measurements of the doilies for my banner are as follows:
Base: 10x10" round
2nd layer: 8x8" round
Heart doilies: 6x6"
The overall length of my banner is approximately 70".

When did you get so big?

I went to a no frills crop on the weekend with some great ladies.
I always tend to talk myself out of it (I'm too lazy to pack, try to organize my supplies, leave my house, my little family for the day, yada yada..) there are always a 1000 reasons NOT to go.
Luckily, I have good friends that make me go and then of course, I am always glad that I went.
Does anyone else do that?

Being the procrastinator that I am, I packed at the last minute and did the 'panic-pack' where I just started throwing stuff in a bag. EEK.
Thankfully, I had alot of my old 'Hip' kits together in a large ziploc and this LO came from that.
I think I used odds & ends from 2 or 3 old kits (December's, November's and  October's kits are used in this LO). The wooden npaper background is a favorite of mine and there are so many differnt spins on this pattern to choose from (I think thisone is Simple Stories). I also added some Mister Huey's Mister (in Calico White) for a bit more of a grungy look. The buttons, DMC embroidery floss, doily, cotton twine & tag are all from my stash.

That's all I have for today.
I just got a message that January's kit is being shipped out today!
Can't WAIT to get my hands on this!!

8th Birthday Celebration

Happy Thursday (and Holy Deep Freeze, Batman!!)!
It is C-O-L-D!!

I have a bit of a confession, I often make my LOs before I have my pictures printed.
I usually sketch them out when I do this, knowing which shots I will print off and what size I will print them at but this time, I completed my LO before I even TOOK the pictures. EEK!
I guess if the colors in my pics were off, I could tweek them while editing or just go for the tried and true printing in black and white method but since I usually scrap in the same bright colors I wear on my son, I just went for it and it worked.
I didn't know how many pics I would use or what size, so I just winged it and left a large (fairly open) space available for my pics and just set it up. My original concept isn't overly embellished or ornate, I knew I would add more details as I worked with my photos.

As you can see, I added a fair amount of photos & kept most of them small (2x2, 2x3 and my focal photo is a 'grand' 4x3). by keeping the pics zoomed in and cropped, I was able to add 10 photos & journalling spots. I also cut some random sized '8's and placed them around my LO.

LO created with December Hip 2-B Square kit + add-ons.

500 Posts, a Birthday & Some Cards too!

Holy MOLY!!
500 posts??!!
For a girl who hates (I mean really despises) writing & is a poor typist to boot,
I never thought I would see the day that I would hit 500 posts.
WOW!
I started this blog for a DT position that I wanted (it was mandatory to have a blog).
I never got the spot but liked being able to keep my projects contained in 1 set spot.
And here we are.

Before I share a few cards that I did for Hip 2-B Square, I wanted to take a small piece of your time and wish this little Prince a Happy 8th Birthday.

It's still so hard to believe somedays that I am a Momma to such a wonderful little guy.
We just love him to bits!!
Happy 'EPIC' Birthday, 'Dude'!

And last but not least, here a few cards that I did for Miss Kimberley using the December Hip 2=B Square kit + Add-ons.

I'll look back on this and Smile

Happy Friday!
It is a balmy -16 C (-27 C with wind chill) here in Canada today,
so I decided to stay indoors and blog a bit.

This LO is of a pic I was taking of Little Man at the 'Touch A Truck' event last Fall.
Our funny friend, Tony jumped in at the last second and photo bombed Little Man. The pic makes me laugh every time I see it and I thought the bright colours in the December Hip 2-B Square kit suited it perfectly.
